OUR ORGANIZATION
ABOUT US
PTSA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit association that prides itself on being a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public education. The PTSA is created by Parents, Teachers, and Students just like you! Membership in PTSA is open to anyone who supports the PTSA mission and wants to be involved and make a difference for the education, health, and welfare of children and youth. As part of the PTSA, you add your voice to that of other concerned community members to effect change in the educational system.
Our mission is . . .
- to support and speak on behalf of students and parents in schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting them;
- to provide students with opportunities to reach their full potential
- to encourage parental involvement in the public schools; and
- to encourage contributions of members, volunteers and partners to attain our goals To encourage a diversified membership

WHY JOIN?
With schools facing challenges like shrinking budgets and lack of educational equity, PTSA is more important than ever. The PTSA provides programs on strengthening family-school partnerships and free resources for members on issues and areas such as STEM and health & safety. Be a part of a powerful association that can advocate on behalf of children and educators at the local, state and national levels.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
Members of the PTSA . . .
- are involved in their student's school, which directly affects their student's achievements;
- get the “inside scoop” on school events and upcoming activities
- are well-informed about opportunities for their students;
- meet other parents in the community and have the opportunity to network;
- share information and ideas about school improvement; and
- plan activities for students, staff, and parents.
WHAT WE DO?
The PTSA is responsible for:
Staff Appreciation – Help treat the SVHS staff during the school year
Membership and Fundraising - Help raise funds to support PTSA activities/events
Scholarships – Review scholarship applications
SAFE After Prom – Help plan a safe After Prom for our students
